Recovered a rebrand that broke organic search.
How a commercial services company rebuilt organic visibility after changing domains without an SEO migration plan.
Client: Commercial Services Company
Challenge
The company changed its brand and domain without an SEO migration strategy and saw an immediate, severe decline in search traffic. By the time FoundHive was brought in, the team had to work backward: restore the technical signals that should have moved with the site while also making sure the new brand was represented consistently across a very large web presence.
Approach
FoundHive implemented 301 redirects, migrated metadata, updated XML sitemaps and resolved Google Search Console errors. Local citations and review-platform listings were updated for consistent NAP data, then the 2,000+ page website was revised to reflect the new brand. Crawlability and indexation were strengthened through internal linking, anchor-text optimization, link building and supporting PR activity.
What FoundHive managed
- 301 redirect and domain-migration remediation
- Metadata, XML sitemap and Search Console cleanup
- Local citation and NAP consistency
- Brand updates across a 2,000+ page website
- Internal linking, crawlability and authority-building work
Within eight months, organic traffic had recovered beyond the level achieved before the domain change, and the new domain was outperforming the old one.
Results
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| Recovery timeline | 8 months |
| Website scale | 2,000+ pages |
| Domain outcome | New domain > old |
| Technical recovery | Completed |
Why it matters
Migration recovery is not a single redirect task. This case required technical remediation, local-entity cleanup, large-scale content alignment and ongoing crawl/index work. The result shows the value of treating a rebrand as a full search migration rather than a simple domain switch.
A failed domain migration was not only recovered — within eight months, the new domain was outperforming the site it replaced.
